On October 7th, 2025, International Day for the Older persons (October 1st) was observed at the Out Patient Department of Southern Railway Headquarters New Hospital Complex, Perambur. Dr.J.Chitra,CSS/Admin/RH/Per, Dr.A.Priya Shaunthini,CSS/RH/Per and Dr.K.P.Lalitha, ACHD/Health and Family welfare, presided over the function along with other medical officers.
Dr.K.P.Lalitha, ACHD/HFW, delivered the introductory speech followed by Dr.P.RamaPrabha, DMO/RH/PER, who led the discussion on the theme of the year “Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-Being and Our Rights”. Dr.J.Chitra,CSS/Admin highlighted the healthy ageing and promoting healthy living conditions for elderly that respect the dignity and needs of older persons. Dr A.Priya Shaunthini CSS/RH/Per, emphasised on the well-being of the elderly communities.
A brief quiz was conducted to the elderly people and prizes were distributed to the participants by the Guest of Honour. The programme was well received and concluded with Vote of Thanks, benefitting approximately 150 people.
