General Info

The Department of General Surgery at RH/PER caters to railway beneficiaries of PER, SR and a referral centre for beneficiaries from all over Indian Railways.

The Surgical team of IRHS doctors take care of all surgical outpatient management, minor procedures and major procedures in operation theatre and activities of DNB Residents. We have a team of Visiting Consultants for all super specialty services.

  • DNB training with more than 80% passout since 1985.
  • Conducting academic presentations and classes pertaining to curriculum and guest lectures by Honorary Consultants.
  • Ensuring ethical and scientific committee clearance for thesis of DNB candidates and providing guidance for their thesis work.
  • Conducting practical exams regularly for DNB Candidates as per NBEMS directive.
  • Coordinating with other department doctors for conducting CME programmes and weekly academic presentations.

  • All type of cancers is managed and treated here.

  • More than 80% of onco surgical cases are managed by railway surgeons.

  • Surgical oncologist has performed 31 special major onco surgeries in 2023-24.

  • All special investigations, Chemotherapies and radiotherapies are given as per medical oncologist review.

  • Latest form of Immunological and hormonal treatment also available for railway patients.

  • Pain clinic for advanced cancer care also available.

LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY:

  • All special major keyhole surgeries are done at RH/PER at par with Govt and corporate institutions.

  • In the year 2023-24 total 162 laparoscopic surgeries done.

  • Following surgeries are regularly done.

    • Laparoscopic hydatid cyst excision

    • Laparoscopic diaphragmatic hernia repair
