Department of Ophthalmology

General Info

The Ophthalmology department at present has four IRHS doctors and 5 postgraduates. The average outpatient strength is about 160- 200 cases per day. 45 – 50 cases per week are operated upon.

Approximately 1500 cataract surgeries are performed per year. Glaucoma surgeries, Oculoplasty, Retinal Surgeries for Macular Hole, Epiretinal Membrane removal, Intravitreal injections and Retinal Detachment surgeries , ptosis repair and entropion and ectropion correction are also performed.

Case presentation is done twice a week by the postgraduates. Journal club is conducted once every month. Classes by consultants are conducted twice every month.
