Dr. Kalyani Sai Dandapani assumed the charge as Medical Director of the Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur in June 2023. She was posted as Chief Staff Surgeon at the same hospital from December 2020 to May 2023. She has been the Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology & Chief Gynecologist at this hospital since September 2020. She has more than 34 years of service in the Indian Railways and more than 30 years of teaching experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr Kalyani is an alumnus of the Stanley Medical College Chennai. She is a Life Member of the OGSSI/FOGSSI/IMA Faculty. She has presented multiple papers at National and International conferences. Her recent paper was selected for the international SAFOG conference in Bangkok in May 2024. Her areas of interest include Gynaec Oncology and High-risk pregnancy. She is an examiner for obstetrics and Gynaecology for the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences.

She is an excellent clinician and surgeon besides being an able administrator. She has been conferred numerous awards for her devotion to duty and patient care by the Ministry of Railways. She was awarded the DRM award once and the GM award twice. She was also conferred with the Best Paper Award in the IRAGOCON 2024 by the DGRHS, New Delhi.

She was awarded the Excellent Researcher Award for the year 2024 by the Asia Research Award. She is a member of the American Chamber of Research. She has been invited to the World Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dubai, UAE, in March 2025 to present her paper which has already been published in an International Journal.
