General Information

The in-house Anaesthesiology Team effectively and efficiently manages all the Perioperative Anaesthesiology services for each and every general broad specialty surgical/medical interventions and procedures and also all the super-specialty surgeries/procedures/interventions done by HVS medical/surgical consultants in Medical Gastroenterology, Intensivists, Interventional Radiology, Advanced Oncosurgery, Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery, Vascular and Interventional Pain and Palliative care procedures, Urological and Uro-gynecological surgeries, etc., which saved enormous amounts of Railway Revenue and avoided hardships to Railway Medical Beneficiaries, by avoiding referral to non-Railway healthcare institutions.

Academics

  1. DNB – ANAESTHESIOLOGY Broad speciality course conducted in this department with annual admission of two primary candidates and two post diploma secondary candidates.

  2. National Board of Examinations DNB Anaesthesiology Course activities achieved 100% successful results during the past 3 years.

  3. The Department of Anaesthesiology/RH/PER has successfully conducted NBE FAT (Formative Assessment Test in work place) and Internal Assessment tests for DNB-ANAESTHESIOLOGY COURSE.

  4. Our DNB Anaesthesia POST GRADUATE Students presented PG Scientific papers and posters in ISA conferences.

  5. Dr. V. Kamatchi Selvam, ACHD(SAG)/ANAESTHESIA has been conducting Webex Online Academic Classroom sessions (more than 150 sessions) and has been uploading all the recorded videos in YouTube channel (more than 550 videos) since December 2020, for the benefit of NBE DNB Railway Faculty Members and post graduate students in various Indian Railway Hospitals all over India.

    1. “STAY & PLAY” ON-SITE: OUT-OF-HOSOPITAL TRAUMA CARE SERVICES IN PERIPHERAL AREAS OF THE COUNTRY at ISA NATIONAL SPONSORED CME PROGRAM in Siddipet, Telengana in June 2024.

    2. ATLS CHALLENGES IN EMERGENCY ROOMS at ISA SOUTHZONE CONFERENCE in Yercaud, July 2024.

  2. Our RH/PER ANAESTHESIOLOGY IRHS Faculty members have contributed as DNB examiners at NBE FINAL EXAMINATIONS at various centres. National Board of Examinations DNB Anaesthesiology Course activities achieved 100% successful results in the DNB final examinations for Dr. Muthumani, Dr. Sai Dikshith, Dr. Ammu and Dr. Venkateswaralu under the supervision of faculty members of the Anaesthesiology department.

  3. Regularly conducted COLS, BLS, ACLS training programs with simulation devices and mannequins for all medical officers, PG students, paramedical staff etc.,

Services

  • Comprehensive Perioperative Anaesthesiology services for all the general and super-specialty surgeries done by IRHS and HVS surgical consultants in Advanced Oncosurgery, Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery, Vascular and Interventional Radiology procedures, Urological and Uro-gynecological surgeries, etc.,

  • Round the clock expert anaesthesiology support for emergency needs arising from MICU, CATH LAB, NEPHROLOGY HEMODIALYSIS UNITS, LABOR ROOM (including Labour analgesia), CT/ MRI Scan Non-operating Room Anaesthesia care etc.,

  • Acute and Chronic Pain Management services including Labour Analgesia (with walking epidurals), Acupuncture, Interventional Pain Management procedures, etc.,

Research

Annually 4 research Thesis works are completed and approved by the NBE under the academic research program of DNB curriculum. Research presentations and publications are done by the IRHS consultants regularly in Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) and indexed journals.
