WORLD AIDS DAY 2024 was observed at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Ayanavaram on 2nd December at OPD Complex, New Railway Hospital. The Programme was presided by Dr.S.Kalyani, PCMD/RH/PER and Dr.V.Kannan MD//RH/PER. Dr.K.P.Lalitha ACHD/HFW, Dr.K.Muruganandam ACHD/Internal Medicine, Dr.P.Hemalatha ACHD/Psychiatry, Dr.P. Ramaprabha DMO/RH/PER and other Paramedical Staffs were also present in the programme.
1. The programme was initiated with introductory speech by Dr.K.P.Lalitha ACHD/HFW, followed by talk on WORLD AIDS DAY 2024 theme, “ TAKE THE RIGHTS PATH: MY HEALTH, MY RIGHT” by Dr.P. Ramaprabha , Nodal officer/ICTC/RH/PER. The talk centred on human rights and communities on the lead to end AIDS as a public threat. Mr.Nesan Counsellor/ICTC/RH/PER, focussed on HIV Counselling and testing and ART Therapy.Dr.V.Kannan MD, emphasised on universal precautions of the health care workers as well as identifying and treating the HIV Cases. DR.S.Kalyani PCMD/RH/PER explained the theme and the need for testing, detection and treatment especially in antenatal mothers, prioritising the health as the human right and successfully reducing the HIV Prevalence among the Railway beneficiaries. Also discussed the role of Railway Hospital Perambur in controlling the spread of blood borne infections in Hospital setting.
2. HIV Pledge was undertaken with active participation from the Audience. Key points on HIV were displayed as visuals in the OPD complex LED screens for public awareness.
3. HIV Awareness Rally was organised and flagged off by Dr.S.Kalyani PCMD and Dr.V.Kannan MD. Approximately seventy (70) members volunteered for the rally. Door to Door distribution of Pamphlets on HIV was carried out by Mr.Sarvesh CHI/ Railway colony and his team along with NGOs.
4. Followed by HIV Awareness talk to Rally Volunteers, Nursing Staffs and Students of GRT college of Nursing and sanitary workers at Radiology Auditorium/RH PER. Counsellor/ICTC and NGOs from ARM elucidated about HIV and AIDS to the audience followed by a Quiz competition. Prizes were distributed. Dr.S.Kalyani PCMD/RH/PER concluded the programme with the Take home message.
The programme was well perceived and around 300 members benefitted.
