A 100-day intensified tuberculosis (TB) awareness campaign was formally launched by Dr. S. Kalyani, PCMD/HQ Hospital/RH/PER, and Dr. V. Kannan, MD/RH/PER, at the Outpatient Department (OPD) block of RH/PER. The campaign aims to educate patients, their families, and the general public about the importance of TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Awareness Activities
The inaugural event featured a series of awareness activities, including:
1. Awareness Speech on TB Symptoms and Treatment: Dr. G. Arun Kumar, Sr.DMO and TB Nodal Officer/RH/PER, delivered a speech on TB symptoms, diagnostic facilities, and treatment options. He emphasized the need for screening high-risk populations, such as those with compromised immune systems, and highlighted the importance of early detection and treatment.
2. Prevention and Management of TB: Dr. S. Kalyani PCMD/HQ Hospital/RH/PER and Dr. Lalitha, ACHD - Health and Family Welfare/RH/PER spoke about the prevention and management of TB. They discussed the role of nutritional support in preventing and treating TB, and emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
3. Release of TB Screening Form: Dr. S. Kalyani PCMD/HQ Hospital/RH/PER and Dr. V. Kannan, MD/RH/PER released a TB screening form, which will be used to identify high-risk individuals and facilitate early detection and treatment.
4. Mime Show on TB Awareness: Nursing students from GRT School of Nursing presented a thought-provoking mime show on TB awareness, highlighting the importance of education and awareness in preventing the spread of TB.
5. Inauguration of TB Awareness Video: A TB awareness video was inaugurated, which will be played on all TVs at the hospital. The video aims to educate patients and visitors about TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, and will serve as a valuable resource for raising awareness about TB.
6. Staff from the state government's National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme took part in a TB awareness drive, distributing pamphlets to educate people about the disease.
7. As a show of commitment, all participants took an oath to contribute to creating a TB-free India.
Dr.Radha Vijaya Raghavan ACHD- Nephrology and HOD - Dept of General Medicine, Dr.Hemalatha- ACHD and HOD - Dept of Psychiatry, Dr.Ninu Babu -ADMO Pulmonology and Dr.Ramaprabha ADMO - Microbiology were present during the program. Around 120 persons attended this program. Refreshments were served to all the attendees. Memento were distributed to the GRT school of nursing students by PCMD/HQ Hospital.
