DAY 2: 15.09.2024

Cleaning activities carried out in the intensive care units, theatres and Labour room of Southern Railway Headquarters hospital with special coverage to wash rooms. Acid wash for Toilets and washbasins done. Black spots identified near the Radiology block portico and entrance and cleaned and mopped.

DAY 3: 16.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Dr.S.Kalyani Medical Director/RH/per, Dr.V.Kannan CSS/Admin/Per Handed over the Personal protective kits namely protective face mask, Gloves, head cap for sanitary workers and volunteers who are involved in Cleanliness activities emphasising on the safety of healthcare workers.

Swachhata shramdaan activity of intensive cleaning carried out at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital by Medical Director, Doctors, ANO, Matrons, Nursing staffs, Nursing Trainee Students, Health Inspector and Sanitary workers. It is a voluntary contribution of labour by the staff to clean the premises and to help the community. New Hospital campus is also cleaned.

DAY 4: 17.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Selfie Point installed at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital New Complex, OutPatient Department. Dr.S.Kalyani Medical Director/ RH/Per and Dr.V.Kannan CSS/Admin/RH/Per inaugurated the Selfie Point at the SR Hospital premises.

The purpose of Selfie point is to encourage public engagement to support the cleanliness activities and to raise awareness among the citizens about the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. Public and Health care workers actively participated and took pictures showcasing the pride in cleanliness through interactive photo opportunities.

The IEC on Swachhata Hi Seva is displayed in the Outpatient Department. The video is to promote messages of the Swachhata campaign, and highlights the role played by both individuals and communities in maintaining Swachhata.

Intensified cleanliness drive carried out at SR New Hospital complex by Healthcare workers targeting the dirty and garbage points (Black Spots), Parking areas, washrooms, corridors, dispensary, OPD waiting hall etc.

DAY 5: 18.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs: Health camps organised to safaiwalas working at Southern Railway headquarters hospital, and preventive health checkups conducted. Total eighty (80) employees screened for Blood pressure, random sugar and General examination done.

Health awareness talk on Health and sanitation. Personal protective kits are given to sanitary workers.

School students actively participated in Essay and Painting competition, conducted at railway bala

Black spots are identified in the Railway Hospital premises and cleaned. Dustbins for Biodegradable waste are placed in prominent places in the Hospital premises.

Health education talk on the theme ‘Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskaar Swachhata' was given by B.SC Trainee nursing students to the Inpatient and their attenders in the wards emphasising the cleanliness and Sanitation.

Intensive clearing Bushes grown at New Hospital Complex carried out.

DAY 6: 19.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Health checkup and welfare camp conducted for the safai mitras at CWM Loco workshop and CWM carriage workshop of Perambur. Height, weight, Blood pressure, Pulse, random blood sugar are assessed and General Medical examination done for the workers. Total 54 safai mitras benefitted.

Followed by Health Awareness talk related to cleanliness and health, importance of usage of personal protective kits and Nutritional health is given by Dr.P. Ramaprabha, DMO/RH/PER to safai mitras at Loco Workshop and Carriage workshop,Perambur.

Intensive cleaning of canals (Black spots) surrounding the Railway Hospital premises posing as environmental, health and hygiene risk is undertaken. Extensive cleaning activity carried out.

Anti-mosquito spraying and fogging done at Pulianthope colony and Perambur colony.

Cleaning activities carried out by the staff of the radiology department.

Extensive Clearing of wooden logs near Biomedical waste, Physiotherapy, behind cath lab, Doctors hostel and behind ward 6 being carried out.

DAY 7: 20.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Tree plantation drive carried out at Old and New Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur. Dr. Nirmala Rajaraman, PCMD/RH/PER, Dr. S.Kalyani, MD/RH/PER, Chief consultants, IRHS Doctors, ANO, matrons, CHI, HI, SSE/IOW/RH/PER and other Health care workers enthusiastically participated in the Tree plantation drive. The trees of various species, around 50 numbers, known for high oxygen production and environmental benefits are planted with fencing.

Medicinal Herbs around 40 are planted in the kitchen garden. Samplings of various species namely Neem, Ginger, mint herbs etc with health benefits are planted. The purpose is to promote cultivation and conservation of medicinal plants.

Cleaning activities carried out in the Medical Director office, children ward play area, casualty, ward 3, surgical OPD, Ophthal OPD and Ayush OPD.

Intensive cleaning activities carried out in the department of Laboratory medicine and Blood bank.

Fogging ( on 19.9.24 evening hours) in PWQ railway colonies and Anti mosquito spraying are done

Clearance of wooden logs from old railway hospital premises.

DAY 8: 21.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Swachhata Hi seva walkathon rally was conducted at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur. The campaign was presided by Dr.S.Kalyani, Medical Director/RH/PER. Doctors and Staff of Headquarters Hospital volunteered and enthusiastically participated in the walkathon activity. The campaign aims to promote fitness, health and cleanliness simultaneously by encouraging broad community participation.

Dr.S.Kalyani MD/RH/PER issued Pamphlets on Cleanliness and Health to the Public advocating Swachh Bharath and emphasising to make cleanliness a natural habit and core societal value in each and every citizen of India.

Black spots front of chest ward are cleared and Intensified Cleaning activity carried out at cardiology wards of Railway hospital, Perambur.

DAY 9: 22.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Swachhata shramdaan activity is carried out by Ms.Ezhilarasi, HI/Perambur Colony and safai mitras.

Pamphlet distributed to railway colony residents on cleanliness and waste disposal by HI/ Perambur Colony to raise awareness on keeping our surroundings clean.

Posters are displayed at various areas of Perambur railway colony emphasising the usage of waste bins to promote and maintain the cleanliness of the environment.

Fumigation of isolation units of chest wards and cleaning activity of wards and critical care equipment done during night shift (21.9.24) at intensive care units, labour ward and cardiology wards.

Intensive cleaning of hospital premises, Entrance hallway and Fountain park done.

DAY 10 : 23.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Cleanliness drive on Water bodies: Water samples for bacteriological analysis are collected from RO plants of OPD Department from New Railway hospital, Brahmaputra officers quarters, New joint office and PT colony and sent for testing.

Tree plantation done at southern Railway Hospital New complex under the leadership Dr.Priya Shaunthini, Chief Specialist, Radiologist on 21.9.2024.

Intensive cleaning of Southern railway Headquarters old Hospital by Dr.Priya Shaunthini, Chief Specialist, Radiologist and her team.

Intensive cleaning activity carried out in the Department of Ear nose and Throat and Dental Department.

Doctors and Nurses Hostel areas are cleaned extensively.

Cleaning activities carried out in ANO offices, Cath Lab, laundry Room, casualty, Paediatric ward, Chest ward and surgical wards.

Biomedical waste Bins are washed and cleaned in the wards.

DAY 11: 24.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Dr.S.Kalyani, Medical Director/ RH/PER, initiated the day by cleaning the MD chamber by herself after reaching the office. MD/RH/PER emphasises on “ My Premises, My own Responsibility”, to have the self awareness to keep the ones office premises clean and dirt free.

Intensive cleaning of water tanks carried out at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital.

Intensive cleaning of garden in Southern railway New Hospital complex done.

Washing, cleaning, dusting and mopping done in the Department of Ophthalmology, Dental department, Medical ward, Maternity ward, Casualty, General Outpatient Department.

Cleaning of Doctors Hostel and surrounding areas of chest ward in old Hospital, carried out.

Intensive cleaning activity carried out in the stores Department.

DA Y 12 : 24.09.2024 ACTIVITIES COMPLETED FOR THE DAY

Extensive Cleaning Of Nephrology Ward, Workstation and Store rooms.The Doctors and staff took the swachhata pledge too in all earnest.-The Casualty Cupboards was cleaned and the dressing materials and medicines were rearraged in an orderly and aesthetic manner.-Cleaning and Fumigation of orthopaedic wards cleaning of pediatric and cardiology wards were done.In Surgical wards , chest ward and Drug stores , cleaning and washing were carried out. The Labor rooms were cleaned and dresses arranged in an orderly manner ,also OT 2 was thoroughly washed and cleaned.-The staff and doctors of Medical Department ,Nephrology and Psychiatry took the swachhata pledge and enthusiastically were involved in swachhata activities in their respective departments.-Dengue Awareness conducted along with GCC at Perambur Railway colony, PT colony near Railway Balabhavan School. Sr.Entamologist gave dengue awareness speech to colony residents and school parents and students . Dengue awareness pamphlet distribution and pasting of posters done.-New Hospital Dust bins were cleaned.-Overall a comprehensive and thorough Swachhata Abhiyan was carried out inside the hospital.

DAY 13: 26.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Waste to Art Exhibition: Dr.S.Kalyani Medical Director/RH/PER inaugurated the waste to art exhibition at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital. Staff of Railway Hospital enthusiastically participated in the programme and creatively made various art exhibits out of hospital waste. This activity promotes community participation and showcases the artistic potential of recycled materials.

Water samples from railway colonies are collected and sent for Bacteriological analysis focussing on cleanliness of water bodies.

Woodenlogs identified near the canal of Railway Hospital are being cleared.

Intensive cleaning activity carried out in the Dermatology department, surgical department, cardiology department, Ortho department, medical department, Casualty and cardiology doctors hostel.

DAY 14: 27.09.2024 ACTIVITIES

Swachhatha pledge by Doctors and staff of the Department of Laboratory Medicine followed by intensive cleaning activities in the laboratory , blood bank and its outer premises. *Intensive cleaning activities in Cardiology ,Nephrology ,Surgical ,Orthopaedic wards,Casualty and Surgical ICU. *Cleaning of Railway Hospital reservation area . *Continuation of the cleaning work in the canal outside the hospital

DAY 15: 28.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

SWACHH FOOD INITIATIVE: Canteen inspection is done by Ms. Ezhilarasi HI at samarpan canteen. Random food items checked for expiry date and FSSAI licence.

Followed by an awareness session on Personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness given to canteen vendors and cooks.

Intensive cleaning of Hospital Kitchen carried out.

Cleanliness activities carried out at Southern Railway Headquarters New Hospital Canteen surroundings.

Intensive cleaning activities carried out in MOT, cath lab, Paediatric ward, Intensive care Surgical wards.

DAY 16: 29.09.2024

1. Thorough cleaning, dusting and mopping of 2up wards. Wheel chairs , stretchers, dressing trolleys, cot, cupboards, windows, doors, door handles are cleaned.

2. Intensive cleaning of Critical Care units, Paediatric wards.

3. Fumigation and cleaning of MOT.

4. Cleaning of canteen and Hospital Premises.

5. Cleaning and Periodic check of Portable medical kit for accident (POMKA) in Casualty done

DAY 17: 30.09.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Swachh Food : Cleanliness activities carried out in the canteen of Southern Railway Headquarters old Hospital.

Intensive cleaning activity carried out in ANO office, 2 Up stores room, Intensive care unit, 2 Down wards,, Hospital Verandahs and Pantry.

Cleaning activities done at cardiology linen room, chest ward and casualty. DAY 18: 01.10.2024 ACTIVITIES:

Cleaning activity carried out in RO plants.

Fumigation and cleaning done in 2 up female ortho wards.

Intensive cleaning activity carried out in 2 Down wards, Paediatric wards, casualty and old OPD complex in Southern Railway old Hospital.

Cleaning, washing, mopping and dusting done in the Health and Family Welfare Department.

DAY 19: 02.10.2024 ACTIVITIES:

SwachhBharat Diwas : Commemorating the completion of 10 years of the launch of mass movements for cleanliness– the Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Valedictory Function of swachhata hi seva conducted on 01.10.2024 at 3.00pm in Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital Auditorium. Dr.Nirmala Rajaram, PCMD/PER, Dr.S.Kalyani, MD/RH/PER, Dr.V.Kannan, CSS/ADMIN/RH/PER are the Guest of Honour. PCMD/PER remembered Mahatma Gandhi's vision on Clean India and MD RH/PER highlighted the commitment to cleanliness, public health, and environmental sustainability. CSS/ADMIN emphasised on adoption of healthy well being and maintenance of clean Hospital premises. SafaiMitras/sanitation workers and Volunteers of Swachh movement are felicitated with certificates and Best performers of SHS 2024 in waste to art competition, essay and Painting competitions are awarded with prizes and certificates.

Intensive Cleaning activities carried out in II UP Female ward, cardiology ward and in corridor areas.
