Cleaning activities carried out in the intensive care units, theatres and Labour room of Southern Railway Headquarters hospital with special coverage to wash rooms. Acid wash for Toilets and washbasins done. Black spots identified near the Radiology block portico and entrance and cleaned and mopped.

Swachhata shramdaan activity of intensive cleaning carried out at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital by Medical Director, Doctors, ANO, Matrons, Nursing staffs, Nursing Trainee Students, Health Inspector and Sanitary workers. It is a voluntary contribution of labour by the staff to clean the premises and to help the community. New Hospital campus is also cleaned.
Selfie Point installed at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital New Complex, OutPatient Department. Dr.S.Kalyani Medical Director/ RH/Per and Dr.V.Kannan CSS/Admin/RH/Per inaugurated the Selfie Point at the SR Hospital premises.
The purpose of Selfie point is to encourage public engagement to support the cleanliness activities and to raise awareness among the citizens about the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. Public and Health care workers actively participated and took pictures showcasing the pride in cleanliness through interactive photo opportunities.
The IEC on Swachhata Hi Seva is displayed in the Outpatient Department. The video is to promote messages of the Swachhata campaign, and highlights the role played by both individuals and communities in maintaining Swachhata.
Intensified cleanliness drive carried out at SR New Hospital complex by Healthcare workers targeting the dirty and garbage points (Black Spots), Parking areas, washrooms, corridors, dispensary, OPD waiting hall etc.
Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs: Health camps organised to safaiwalas working at Southern Railway headquarters hospital, and preventive health checkups conducted. Total eighty (80) employees screened for Blood pressure, random sugar and General examination done.
Health awareness talk on Health and sanitation. Personal protective kits are given to sanitary workers.
School students actively participated in Essay and Painting competition, conducted at railway bala
bhavan school. Total participants are 107 students for painting and 36 students for essay competition. Competitions are held as a part of Swachhata awareness in the younger generation. Encouraging students to creatively express their thoughts on cleanliness and sanitation.Black spots are identified in the Railway Hospital premises and cleaned. Dustbins for Biodegradable waste are placed in prominent places in the Hospital premises.
Health education talk on the theme ‘Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskaar Swachhata' was given by B.SC Trainee nursing students to the Inpatient and their attenders in the wards emphasising the cleanliness and Sanitation.
Intensive clearing Bushes grown at New Hospital Complex carried out.
Health checkup and welfare camp conducted for the safai mitras at CWM Loco workshop and CWM carriage workshop of Perambur. Height, weight, Blood pressure, Pulse, random blood sugar are assessed and General Medical examination done for the workers. Total 54 safai mitras benefitted.

Tree plantation drive carried out at Old and New Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur. Dr. Nirmala Rajaraman, PCMD/RH/PER, Dr. S.Kalyani, MD/RH/PER, Chief consultants, IRHS Doctors, ANO, matrons, CHI, HI, SSE/IOW/RH/PER and other Health care workers enthusiastically participated in the Tree plantation drive. The trees of various species, around 50 numbers, known for high oxygen production and environmental benefits are planted with fencing.
Medicinal Herbs around 40 are planted in the kitchen garden. Samplings of various species namely Neem, Ginger, mint herbs etc with health benefits are planted. The purpose is to promote cultivation and conservation of medicinal plants.

Swachhata Hi seva walkathon rally was conducted at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur. The campaign was presided by Dr.S.Kalyani, Medical Director/RH/PER. Doctors and Staff of Headquarters Hospital volunteered and enthusiastically participated in the walkathon activity. The campaign aims to promote fitness, health and cleanliness simultaneously by encouraging broad community participation.
Dr.S.Kalyani MD/RH/PER issued Pamphlets on Cleanliness and Health to the Public advocating Swachh Bharath and emphasising to make cleanliness a natural habit and core societal value in each and every citizen of India.

Extensive Cleaning Of Nephrology Ward, Workstation and Store rooms.The Doctors and staff took the swachhata pledge too in all earnest.-The Casualty Cupboards was cleaned and the dressing materials and medicines were rearraged in an orderly and aesthetic manner.-Cleaning and Fumigation of orthopaedic wards cleaning of pediatric and cardiology wards were done.In Surgical wards , chest ward and Drug stores , cleaning and washing were carried out. The Labor rooms were cleaned and dresses arranged in an orderly manner ,also OT 2 was thoroughly washed and cleaned.-The staff and doctors of Medical Department ,Nephrology and Psychiatry took the swachhata pledge and enthusiastically were involved in swachhata activities in their respective departments.-Dengue Awareness conducted along with GCC at Perambur Railway colony, PT colony near Railway Balabhavan School. Sr.Entamologist gave dengue awareness speech to colony residents and school parents and students . Dengue awareness pamphlet distribution and pasting of posters done.-New Hospital Dust bins were cleaned.-Overall a comprehensive and thorough Swachhata Abhiyan was carried out inside the hospital.
Waste to Art Exhibition: Dr.S.Kalyani Medical Director/RH/PER inaugurated the waste to art exhibition at Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital. Staff of Railway Hospital enthusiastically participated in the programme and creatively made various art exhibits out of hospital waste. This activity promotes community participation and showcases the artistic potential of recycled materials.
Water samples from railway colonies are collected and sent for Bacteriological analysis focussing on cleanliness of water bodies.

SwachhBharat Diwas : Commemorating the completion of 10 years of the launch of mass movements for cleanliness– the Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Valedictory Function of swachhata hi seva conducted on 01.10.2024 at 3.00pm in Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital Auditorium. Dr.Nirmala Rajaram, PCMD/PER, Dr.S.Kalyani, MD/RH/PER, Dr.V.Kannan, CSS/ADMIN/RH/PER are the Guest of Honour. PCMD/PER remembered Mahatma Gandhi's vision on Clean India and MD RH/PER highlighted the commitment to cleanliness, public health, and environmental sustainability. CSS/ADMIN emphasised on adoption of healthy well being and maintenance of clean Hospital premises. SafaiMitras/sanitation workers and Volunteers of Swachh movement are felicitated with certificates and Best performers of SHS 2024 in waste to art competition, essay and Painting competitions are awarded with prizes and certificates.
