World breast feeding week celebration was inaugurated at RH/ PER with special health education talk at NICU ( Day 1) on 01.08.2024
The session started with inaugural talk by Dr KP Lalitha ACHD, Dr Sanjana DNB PG Paediatrics spoke bilingual on the benefits, methods, myths and advantages of breast feeding.
Dr Ramaprabha DMO spoke on the effects of not giving breast milk. Dr V .Senthilkumar ACHD insisted on the effects of exclusive breast feeding. Dr. G. Kavitha ACHD concluded the session by briefing on the theme "Closing the gap, breast feeding support for all”. Around 50 beneficiaries attended the meeting
02/08/24 ( Day 2 )
Breast Feeding week and well Baby show programme was conducted at Children Ward RH PER. Introduction on this year’s theme "Closing the gap, breast feeding support for all" was given by Dr V. Senthilkumar ACHD/Paediatrics. Bilingual Health Education interactive talk on this year’s Theme was given by Dr. Saranya DNB PG Paediatrics &, Nursing Sister Sreenidhi .The program was attended by the Parents along with the children admitted in Ward. Dr. G. Kavitha ACHD discussed about overcoming the practical difficulties of breastfeeding mothers. Few of the nursing mothers shared their experience and the support they received at their home and workplace. The sisters of children ward, Mrs.Asha Sr Dist. Extn Educator/ Health & Family welfare and other paramedical staff in children ward also participated. Around 35 employees and dependents participated in this programme.
03/08/2024 (Day 3)
Breast feeding week celebration was observed in maternity ward.
MD /RH PER released a booklet on diet instructions for the breastfeeding mothers and also gave a health education talk about breastfeeding. Gynaecology Postgraduates enacted a skit on practical issues faced by breastfeeding mothers. Dr Preethi Paediatric postgraduate spoke on the benefits of breastmilk to the mother and the baby. Mrs Kousalya NS, Paediatric ward spoke about the various methods of breastfeeding techniques. Mrs Geetha NS, Paediatric ward addressed in Hindi elaborately about various aspects of breast feeding . Dieticians stressed on the nature of diets which enriches milk production. Charts were also exhibited during the session.
The programme was participated by Dr G Kavitha ACHD, Dr V Senthilkumar ACHD, Asha HFW and sisters from maternity and children ward. Dr K P Lalitha, ACHD Health & Family welfare concluded the session with take home message. Around 50 Mothers and parents participated in this programme
04/ 08 /24. (Day 4)
Today's programme on breastfeeding week celebration was conducted at Children’s ward by taking a pledge on breastfeeding by doctors and staff of Paediatric ward/RH/PER
05/08/24 (Day 5)
Breast feeding week celebration was observed in antenatal OPD NRH. A skit was enacted by sisters of children ward showing the importance of breastfeeding & its myths.
A quiz programme addressing the ANC OPD patients was conducted by paediatric DNB PGs.
Another skit on practical aspects of breastfeeding was done by OG PGS. MD RH PER stressed on the salient points of breastfeeding .The programme was attended by the ANC OPD patients , H & F welfare staff , Doctors and staff of Paediatrics, OG departments. Around 250 patients and Staffs participated.
06/ 08/ 24. (Day 6)
Today's breastfeeding week celebration was observed in the OPD block NRH.
There was poster presentation on the theme "closing the gap, breast feeding support for all".
Seven participants were there and the best three among them were chosen .
Dr Nagaprasunamba Ch. Consultant, Dr Chitra ACHD and Dr KP Lalitha ACHD/H&FW meticulously went through the posters and judged them .
07/08/24 (Day 7)
The valedictory function of breastfeeding week was conducted at OPD block at NRH . A dance programme was organized by the Sisters of children ward with a message of "Nationwide mothers representation, participating and promoting breastfeeding ". There was also a puppet show with a message " exclusive breast feeding , avoid unnecessary artificial feeding habits". The final day programme was headed by PCMD /RH /PER, MD /RH/PER, and CSS Dr.Kannan who individually expressed their views on Breastfeeding and also distributed the prizes for the winners of Poster presentation along with the participation certificates. Dr.Chitra ACHD, Dr.Nagaprasunamba, Dr.K.P.Lalitha also participated in the event. The programme was widely seen by the patients and their attenders in the OPD Block, NRH staff and other co-workers.
The programme received good appreciation. Around 150 beneficiaries attended the programme
