School Health Checkup Program

SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAM AT RAILWAY HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, PERAMBUR

Event Dates: 21.08.2024 to 23.08.2024 and 27.08.2024 to 30.08.2024

Location: Railway Mixed Higher Secondary CBSE School, Perambur 

Conducted by Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur 

Participants: Doctors and Paramedical Staffs

Target Audience: Students from 1st Standard to 12th Standard, Total number of 673

students Health check-up done.

 

 Introduction

The Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur, in collaboration with Railway Higher Secondary School, Perambur, organised a comprehensive School Health Program over two phases: from the 21st to 23rd of August 2024 and from the 27th to 30th of August 2024. The program aimed to screen and assess the health of students from 1st to 12th standard, ensuring early detection of any health issues and promoting overall well-being.

Objective

The primary goal of the School Health Program was to identify existing health issues among students and increase awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups. The program provided an opportunity for early intervention in health concerns, contributing to the overall health of the student community.

 

Participation

The program covered students across all grades from 1 st to 12th standard. A multidisciplinary team of doctors from Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur, conducted the health screenings.

 

Health Screening and Findings

During the program, students underwent a series of health examinations, including general physical check-ups, eye tests, dental assessments, hearing tests, and more. Below is a summary table of the number of students screened and the common health conditions detected:

Conclusion

The School Health Program, conducted by Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, was highly successful, providing valuable health assessments to a large number of students. The findings highlight the critical role of regular health check-ups in schools.

 

Plans for follow-up actions, including treatment recommendations and health education, have been set in motion to address the identified health issues. The school  also intends to engage parents more actively in supporting their children's health and well-being.
