World Schizophrenia Day was observed by the Department of Psychiatry, RH/ Perambur on 24.05.24 at the Psychiatry OP. The theme of this year," Celebrating the power of Community kindness" was discussed by Dr.Hemalatha, ACHD. Dr.Sahanavarshini, DMO, highlighted upon the causative factors. Voluntary student Psychologist Miss. Nandhitha, spoke on the symptoms and signs of Schizophrenia. Preventive measures were discussed by the contract Psychologist Mr.Sharan. About 50 patients and their families participated in the program. Pamphlets on warning signs and prevention were distributed to the participants. One of the beneficiary spoke about his illness and recovery after which he was able to donate his kidney. The program was well received by the audience.
